  • 1/4 cup bourbon

Instructions:

  • Whisk egg yolks with sugar until creamy and pale (about 5 minutes). 
  • In a saucepan, heat whole milk and heavy cream until almost simmering; pour slowly into yolk mixture, whisking continuously. 
  • Return the mixture to the saucepan, cook over low heat until thickened (around 10 minutes), stirring constantly. 
  • Stir in ground nutmeg, remove from heat, and let it cool to room temperature. 
  • Add dark rum and bourbon, adjusting to taste preference. 
  • In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; gently fold into the eggnog mixture. 
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to meld flavors.
